The China Lights festival is returning to Boerner Botanical Gardens this fall.
Milwaukee County Parks announced Tuesday that the popular outdoor light display will come back to Boerner for a sixth time from Sept. 15 to Oct. 29.
Further details, including a "sneak peek" of some of the displays planned for the 2023 festival, are to be unveiled at a press event Aug. 8 at Boerner, 9400 Boerner Drive, Hales Corners, in the northeast corner of Whitnall Park.
China Lights is a partnership between Milwaukee County Parks and Tianyu Arts & Culture.
After being canceled for two years because of the COVID-19 pandemic, China Lights returned to Boerner in the fall of 2022. In its first four years in Milwaukee, the attraction drew about 400,000 visitors. Each year, China Lights has a different theme and mostly new light displays; in 2022, it had an "Alice in Wonderland" flavor.
