Planning for a family outing or a fun date? The Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix is a beautiful and popular attraction known for its stunning collection of desert plants from around the world. It offers a unique opportunity to explore the diverse and vibrant plant life of desert ecosystems.

What's more, the garden has a full calendar of events that celebrate holidays such as Dia de los Muertos and Christmas, highlight artists and happenings that teach you a thing or two.

Here is your guide to the three most popular events of fall 2023 at the Desert Botanical Garden.

Hit pause:Botanical gardens in Phoenix and beyond where you can smell the flowers and hear birds

What: Get your green thumb on and adopt a plant. The garden offers a vast selection of plants for sale, such as aromatic herbs, vegetables, flowers, cactus, succulents and agaves. Garden experts will be available to help you select the best plants for your home and yard.

When: 7 a.m.-3 p.m. Thursday-Sunday, Oct. 19-22.

How much: Free admission; reservations are required.

What: Come celebrate the beloved Mexican holiday. The garden's Día de los Muertos event will feature a community altar centered on the iconic skeleton figure La Catrina. Learn the history and symbolism of the holiday and what it means to Mexicans while enjoying food, music, dancing and activities. Don't forget to snap a photo at the floral archway.

When: Noon-6 p.m. Saturday-Sunday, Nov. 4-5.

How much: Included with garden admission fee or membership.

What: One of the longest-running traditions at the Desert Botanical Garden, Las Noches de las Luminarias is a must-see. Enjoy an evening walking around the garden as sparkling luminaria trails light your way through. Food, drinks, entertainment and musical performances will be available.

How much: Tickets go on sale Oct. 2 for members ($34.95) and Oct. 16 for the general public ($39.95).

When: 5:30-9:30 p.m. Nov. 24-25 and Dec. 1, 2, 8, 9, 15, 16, 19-23 and 26-30,
